Prof. dr. Fabiola Camuti - Supervisor & Research advisor

Since 2024, Camuti has been lector of Critical Creative Pedagogies at the Utrecht School of the Arts. In 2016, she obtained her PhD on the topic of meditation and performance in a joint program between the Sapienza University of Rome and the University of Amsterdam. Her dissertation addressed the need for a closer interaction between theoretical approaches and practice within the field of performance studies and theater pedagogy.Camuti has been a visiting researcher and practitioner in Italy, France, Denmark, England, the U.S. and the Netherlands, and has worked as a researcher and lecturer at the Departments of Theater Studies at the University of Amsterdam and Media and Culture at Utrecht University. From 2019 she worked as senior researcher and associate lecturer within the Lectorate Art Education as Critical Tactics at ArtEZ, where she focused on the role of art and cultural education in a changing and challenging world. Here she also conducted her postdoctoral research in art education, funded by an SIA-HBO grant. In this research on hierarchy, inclusivity and decolonization in education, she worked closely with several undergraduate and graduate programs. Art teacher training programs were particularly important in the collaboration. Camuti has led projects on radical educational experiments, such as Create Space, No School and No University, and has developed various educational products and working forms based on an ecological perspective on learning and the interaction between research and teaching. She also works with participatory and autoethnographic methodologies on projects on meaning-making, arts education and well-being. In this regard, she was research coordinator of the SIA-RAAK PRO project Art-Based Learning in Palliative Care. Now Camuti focuses mainly on research and education in the project.
