Famke Sinninghe Damsté studied Light Music singing at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and Dutch Language and Literature at the University of Utrecht in the 1980s. She works in the 90s as music editor for various broadcasters, such as VPRO and AVRO. Since 2003 she has worked as a teacher of Dutch, Music and Cultural Arts Education at the Baarnsch Lyceum. In 2011 she founded her own production company Maanstrand and as a producer, songwriter and translator released several CDs and books, such as in 2012 the CD Maanstrand, in 2017 the picture book 'Hond Kijkt' and in 2022 the CD book The Seasons of Legrand. In 2017, she earned the Master of Arts in Education from the Amsterdam School of the Arts. Through her graduation project Art in Bildung, she came into contact with Jeroen Lutters of the Lectorate Art Education as Critical Tactics at ArtEZ Hogeschool voor de Kunsten, who in 2018 appointed her head of the Art Based Learning Centre. From then on, she provided and developed Art Based Learning and Creative Thinking trainings, workshops and sessions for ArtEZ and Culture East. In 2021 she conducted a number of sessions for a pilot research project on Art Based Learning in palliative care in the art repository of the Amsterdam Medical Center. Starting in 2022, she became a junior researcher for the project The Art of Creating New Stories, Art Based Learning for Patients with Incurabel Cancer and in that capacity she conducted Art Based Learning sessions with patients along the art routes set out for that purpose at the AMC.
