Opening Speaking Objects — 50 artworks from the Amsterdam UMC collection
Art to give meaning and meaning to life. This idea is at the heart of the art routes Speaking Objects — 50 works of art from the Amsterdam UMC collection. The art routes have been compiled with works of art from the Amsterdam UMC collection.
The starting point for the art routes is the so-called Art-Based Learning method. A visitor looks at art in a contemplative way under supervision, and establishes a personal relationship with the works of art in order to answer personal questions.
These art routes are particularly designed for patients with cancer who cannot heal from this disease. This event is part of the larger project: The Art of Creating New Stories: Working with Art-Based Learning in Palliative Care, funded by SIA (Innovation Alliance Foundation). Partners of this project include ArtEZ University of the Arts, Amsterdam UMC, University of Twente, University of Amsterdam, Radboud University, Amsterdam Museum, Museum Jan Cunen, Museum Arnhem, Learning from Art, Living with Hope, SPKS, NFK.
The art routes are intended for everyone, patients, family members, employees and other visitors, to the hospital.
You can visit the art routes both physically on location and online. On Friday, April 5, 2024, the grand opening will take place at the AMC.
